Sandstone Point Hotel

Bridging Brisbane’s northside and Bribie Island lies one of Greater Brisbane’s most popular waterfront venues: Sandstone Point Hotel. With a restaurant, multiple bars and function spaces, a beach club, and event facilities, Sandstone Point Hotel was searching for a way to offset its carbon footprint and reduce its large electricity bills.

The Comiskey Group, having enlisted Springers Solar to install solar energy systems on other sites such as Eatons Hill Hotel and Burpengary Shopping Village, reached out to Eddie Springer and our team again to determine the best plan of action for Sandstone Point Hotel.

A 100kW solar PV system was installed on the Hotel’s large rooftop to maximise solar energy production and offset a large portion of the venue’s daytime usage. 240 x 415W Trina Solar Vertex S modules were installed, selected for their high-efficiency rating and proven performance even in harsh weather conditions and exposure to salt.

A Sungrow 110kW Three-Phase Inverter was paired with the system to achieve an estimated production rate of 148.2 MWh of solar energy per annum. However, since the installation four months ago, estimations have already been exceeded by 12%.

Carbon emissions produced by the venue will be reduced by 122 tonnes every year, contributing to the Comiskey Group’s commitment to sustainability. The Comiskey team and the after-sales service team at Springers Solar are able to monitor their production, consumption, and emissions saved through Sungrow’s iSolarCloud monitoring portal.

The Springers Solar installation team had the 100kW system installed and running within two weeks and worked flexibly around the Hotel’s opening hours to ensure as little disruption to business as possible. The system is monitored by the Springers Solar after-sales service team to ensure optimal performance is maintained and that any troubleshooting is diagnosed immediately.
