When our customer approached Springers Solar, their goals were clear: reduce reliance on the grid, take control of their energy usage, and ensure they had reliable backup power during blackouts. Living on a property in South East Queensland with two dwellings running off a single switchboard, they needed a solution that could support both homes while delivering resilience, energy savings, and security.

Aidan Vogt, a Springers Solar energy consultant, met with this customer to complete a thorough inspection of the site and to better understand this customer’s energy requirements before designing a suitable system. Aidan and our team of solar engineers then worked collaboratively with the customer to design a system that would effortlessly power both dwellings on the property.

System Design

Utilising both roofs available, we designed and installed a 28.36kW Canadian Solar array, comprised of 61 x 465W N-Type TOPCon modules. Chosen for their ability to maximise solar generation, the Canadian Solar panels in this array will generate an energy yield high enough to efficiently power both homes on the property.

This array was paired with a three-phase Sigenergy Home Energy Solution. For this site, the Sigenergy Solution included 2x Sigen Energy Controllers, 1x 10kW and 1x 20kW, 6x 8kWh Battery Modules forming the 2 SigenStor battery stacks, and a three-phase Sigenergy Gateway. The result of these comprehensive battery stacks is a total of 48kWh battery capacity for the property.

Why a Sigenergy Solar and Battery System?

Our expert team explored a variety of options before deciding that the SigenStor battery stacks would be the best solution for this site. With the customer’s energy goals clearly defined, the SigenStor system stood out for its high-quality, efficient performance and significant blackout protection.

The SigenStor system is also compatible with three-phase properties, which allows it to provide power and backup to all three phases on this site. Additionally, this system is modular and fully integrated, both of which are major benefits for this customer as it allows them to easily expand their capacity in the future, and keeps the system clean in line with the newly-built side of the home.

Monitoring the Sigenergy System

Thanks to the comprehensive monitoring system provided by Sigenergy, this customer can track their solar generation, monitor their self-consumption, and optimise their system’s performance all from the mySigen app or portal.

The mySigen portal is known for its AI optimiser, a mode which allows the system to track all energy variables, analyse the data and accurately predict the system’s future performance. It will then use this data to fine-tune and optimise the system’s operation. This mode offers a simple and easy way for our customer to get the absolute most out of their system and see the benefits as soon as possible.

Additionally, with the mySigen app/portal, our customer can set how they want the system to perform in the case of a blackout. They can pre-determine how much energy they want to direct to their backup loads and even program the SigenStor to always save a certain amount of the battery capacity for blackout scenarios only. With the unpredictable weather conditions in Southeast Queensland, this was a huge bonus for this customer, who can now rest easy knowing their property will still have power even if the grid goes down.
