How to Connect Your Enphase Envoy to WiFi

Reconnect your Enphase Envoy and Enphase Microinverters to your WiFi network to view data in Enlighten app.

If your Enphase microinverters aren’t displaying data on the Enphase App, chances are that your Enphase Envoy box has disconnected from the internet.

No need to stress - more often than not, this only means that your system isn’t sending data to the monitoring portal. It doesn’t mean that your system isn’t working.

Your Enphase Envoy can disconnect from your Wifi network if you have recently:

  • Changed internet providers
  • Changed your modem/router
  • Changed your Wifi password
  • Changed your Wifi extender
  • Experienced an outage or blackout

If your Enphase Envoy has disconnected from the internet, you can easily re-establish the Wi-Fi connection from your phone without third-party help.

Locate your Enphase Envoy

Your Enphase Envoy will be located either near your switchboard or in an iboard. The Enphase Envoy is a little black box and will look like the below.

Once you’ve found your Envoy, it’s time to enable Access Point (AP) mode and reconnect to your Wifi network.

How to connect Enphase Envoy to WiFi

1. Enable AP mode

On your Envoy, there is a button located beneath the mobile icon. Briefly press the button once to turn on AP mode. Do not hold the button, as holding will enable WPS mode. If you do, wait 2 minutes before attempting to press again.

When you press the button, a green light should appear beside the mobile icon, which indicates that AP mode is enabled and you can continue to reconnection.

2. Connect your phone/laptop to the Envoy

Open your phone or laptop and navigate to your Wifi connections. You will notice an ENVOY network under available networks. Select the ENVOY network.

Take note of the six digits on the network name - this is the last six digits of your Envoy’s serial number and you will need this to complete the connection.

Next, open your web browser and enter the following into the address bar:

172.30.1.1

Hit enter, and your browser should take you to this configuration page:

3. Forget the old WiFi network

If your Envoy has previously been connected to Wifi, you will need to forget the old network to allow it to reconnect. On the configuration page, select ‘Wifi’ under the Monitoring pane.

When prompted, input your username and password.

Username: envoy

Password: the last six digits of your serial number (the six digits you noted before)

Click sign in and let it load the Wifi configurator.

On the Wifi configuration page, you will see your previous Wifi network connection. Select ‘more info’, then click ‘forget this network’. This will ensure your Envoy is ready for reconnection.

4. Connect the new WiFi network

Once you’ve forgotten existing network connections, you can select ‘view networks’. Your home’s Wifi network should appear in the list. If it doesn’t, confirm whether you are in range of your network modem/router.

Select your Wifi network and enter your password.

5. Confirm if the connection was successful

To check if your Envoy is connected to internet, check whether the top LED light next to the cloud icon is lit up green. If it is, well done, you’ve successfully reconnected to Wifi!

Please note that it may take some time see your system’s data in the Enphase app. This is because it needs to re-sync data for each day that the Envoy was offline. Enphase advises it takes around 1 hour to re-sync for each offline day.
