The Balance of System (BoS) is often overlooked when it comes to installing a solar system on residential and commercial properties. BoS refers to the solar hardware, brackets, rail, and cabling that is integral to the installation and operation of a solar energy system.
This may not seem very exciting, but BoS has a huge impact on the integrity and overall look of a solar system. Springers Solar recently completed a 9.9kW residential solar system on a luxury AirBnB property in Noosa Heads, where the BoS was carefully considered to maintain the aesthetic value of the property.
Given that the AirBnB has a rooftop terrace with a direct view of the solar system, the Springers Solar team engineered a BoS system that would uphold the integrity of the roof and also remain visually appealing. Our team of in-house solar PV designers and engineers worked closely with the AirBnB owner to provide a solution that met this criteria.
With over 23 years of experience, the Springers Solar installation team was qualified to install this system to the highest standards, ensuring that all BoS components and the PV modules were installed as per the roof requirements. For example, shorter screws were sourced and carefully drilled for the rail brackets to ensure that no equipment was drilled through the eaves or overhangs of the terrace.
Quality components paired with excellent workmanship are the solution to protecting your roof’s integrity.
Springers Solar uses all-black hardware provided by Schletter, our trusted supplier of high-quality brackets and rails. All-black hardware offers homes a clean, streamlined look that pairs perfectly with modern-day solar panels which are also often all-black.
On this Noosa Heads home, our team installed 22 x 450W Trina Vertex S+ N-Type solar panels to achieve a total system capacity of 9.9kW. Combined with a three-phase 10kW Sungrow inverter and a Tesla EV Charger, this AirBnB is capable of offsetting all daytime power usage and EV charging from tenants. The owner of this AirBnB is expected to save upwards of $2.2k per year on electricity charges for the property.
Given that it was important for the homeowner to keep this system looking as neat and pleasing as possible, the all-black panels paired with all-black BoS hardware were integral to this installation.
This Airbnb is now proud to offer guests solar-powered air conditioning and EV charging, benefitting the guests' overall experience, the homeowner's bills, and the environment in beautiful Noosa.
