Just 45 minutes north of the Brisbane CBD is the latest grand dining and entertainment venue from the Comiskey Group. Known for their other award-winning venues, such as the Eatons Hill Hotel, Sandstone Point Hotel and the Doonan, the Comiskey Group knows how to make an outstanding venue, and the Dakabin Hotel is no exception.
With a plan to include a feature one-restaurant-two-kitchen dining experience, extensive sports bar, entertainment precinct and gaming room, the Comiskey Group sought to offset the carbon footprint and minimise the electricity bills for the new hotel.
Having worked with Springers Solar previously for their other venues, the Comiskey Group engaged Springers Solar during the planning phase for the construction of this new venue. Eddie Springer and our commercial solar team worked closely with the Comiskey Group to design, engineer and install a system that met the needs of the property.
We installed a 100kW solar PV array, consisting of 215 Canadian Solar 465W N-Type solar panels on the roof of the hotel. The Canadian Solar TOPCon panels were selected for their high-efficiency rating and proven performance even in harsh weather conditions, making them perfect for offsetting a huge portion of the venue’s daytime usage.
A 110kW Sungrow Commercial Inverter was installed for its reliability and monitoring capabilities, enabling the Dakabin Hotel to easily track its solar production and energy consumption from the iSolarCloud monitoring portal.
This 100kW commercial system is estimated to produce 130.08 MWh of solar energy per annum, and will save approximately 64.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.
