When Jason’s family home was left without power for a week following Cyclone Alfred, Jason knew it was time to invest in a solar battery system that could provide continuous backup power. This was his main priority when he spoke to Dave at Springers Solar.

Jason’s family consumes an average amount of electricity for a mid-sized family in Brisbane’s suburbs. Jason wished to offset their air conditioning and high evening usage with enough battery storage to last them through peak periods, as well as supply continuous backup power in the event of an outage.

Given that Jason’s home has three-phase power, a Sigenergy SigenStor battery stack was the best option for him. 32kWh of battery storage was achieved with four 8kWh modules, stacked together to form one scalable unit. This was paired with a Sigenergy 15kW three-phase inverter to seamlessly convert power generated from his 16.6kW Aiko solar system to stored energy.

Three-phase backup, provided by the Sigenergy Gateway, will continue to charge the batteries from solar in the event of a multi-day blackout. With mindful electricity usage, Jason could keep his home powered from solar and batteries continuously without the need for reconnection back to the grid.

Since its installation, Jason has received his first couple of power bill and reports that his bill has been reduced to pocket change. The Sigenergy system completely offsets their peak evening usage, saving them hundreds of dollars every month in electricity costs.
