The owner of this home in Greenbank was looking to take control of their energy consumption and secure their energy independence. With a decent energy draw and desire to set up the home for an electrified future, this customer was looking for a complete energy system overhaul.

When our customer first approached Springers Solar, they had a 5kW solar system and were a single-phase site. This customer had clear goals: secure energy independence and blackout protection for the home, and set it up to be a multi-EV household.

With these clear goals in mind, our design and engineering team planned a system that would tick all of the customer’s goals. The foundation of this new system was a three-phase upgrade to the home.

Our team worked with Energex & the customer’s energy retailers to get a three-phase connection to the property, the home’s connections rewired, and a new energy meter installed. This upgrade was essential to maximising the solar and inverter capacity for this property.

Taking advantage of the three-phase upgrade, a 39.99kW solar array was installed on the roof of the home. 86 Canadian Solar 465W N-Type solar panels were selected for their industry-leading 23.3% module efficiency, huge power output, and extensive product and power warranty.

As this customer was looking for a solar, battery and EV charger system, we chose to install a Sigenergy SigenStor stack at the home. This stack consisted of a 25kW Three-Phase Energy Controller, 5x SigenStor 8kWh Home Battery Modules, and a Sigen 25kW DC EV Charging Module. This stack offers the customer 10kW of inverter capacity per phase, and a total of 40kWh of battery storage capacity.

One of the main goals this customer had for their system was to gain blackout protection for the home. The three-phase upgrade to the home allows the customer to have more circuits backed up in the event of a blackout. We picked the Sigenergy Three-Phase Energy Controller paired with a Sigenergy Three-Phase Gateway, which will provide blackout protection for the essential circuits in the home.

In addition to the 25kW DC EV charger, we also installed a Sigenergy 22kW AC EV Charger. Including both EV chargers future-proofs the home, allowing for efficient charging for the 2 EVs that will reside here. Additionally, the Sigenergy DC EV charger offers the new and upcoming bidirectional charging, which will allow the customer to take advantage of V2X (Vehicle-to-everything) technology.

This family home is now largely self-sufficient with a solar, battery and EV system that not only provides the customer with energy independence and reassurance of power during a blackout, but also adequately prepares them for an electrified future.
