AMI (also known as Midi) fuses are compact bolt-down fuses designed for medium-current DC circuits. They’re widely used in automotive, 4WD, caravan, and marine applications to protect accessories such as DC-DC chargers, lighting systems, and smaller inverters.
AMI and Midi fuses are the same, there are just different naming conventions from manufacturers. Both feature bolt-down connections and typically range from 30A to 200A. Maxi fuses, on the other hand, are blade-style fuses that plug into holders rather than bolt down.
Select a fuse that’s rated slightly above your circuit’s maximum continuous current draw. For example, a 40A circuit should use a 50A fuse. Always check that the fuse rating matches your cable gauge and the current-handling capacity of your connected equipment.
Yes, AMI/Midi fuses are ideal for off-road, marine, and mobile installations. Their bolt-down design ensures a secure, vibration-resistant connection, making them perfect for 4WDs and camper setups travelling across rough Australian terrain.
Yes. To replace one, simply disconnect the power, remove the fuse’s securing bolts, and swap in a new fuse of the same amperage rating. Always ensure the connection points are clean and tight to maintain a low-resistance connection.
