Quickly switch a higher current from a low power source
Made of ABS plastic
Where to use it
Designed for use in dual battery systems, DC-DC charger setups, and accessory isolation. Protect your starter battery from draining with the Alvolta Heavy Duty 12 V 200 A Ignition Relay.
How to use it
The relay will sit between the start and the secondary battery. It has a contact point to connect to a vehicle's accessory circuit that only comes on when the ignition has started. This means, when the engine is off, there will be no power to the relay and it will not allow current to pass from the start battery to the secondary battery. This effectively isolates the start battery so that it doesn't drain.

An ignition relay acts as an automatic switch that uses your vehicle’s ignition signal to turn connected devices (like DC-DC chargers, isolators, or accessories) on and off. This prevents your starter battery from being drained when the engine isn’t running.
If your DC-DC charger or isolator has an ignition input, you’ll usually need a relay to provide that signal. Some chargers won’t power on without it. It’s also recommended when running fridges, lights, or sockets that you only want active with the engine on.
The correct size depends on the load you’re switching. For larger accessory circuits or multiple devices, a heavy-duty relay (up to 200 A) may be more suitable. Always fuse the circuit for protection.
