How to Connect Your SolarEdge Inverter to WiFi

Reconnect your SolarEdge Inverter to your WiFi network to view data in monitoring platform.

If you can't see any data displaying on your mySolarEdge monitoring app, your SolarEdge inverter has most likely disconnected from the internet.

No need to panic - your system is probably still working, it just means that your system isn’t sending your solar data to the mySolarEdge app.

Your SolarEdge Inverter can disconnect from your WiFi network if you have recently:

  • Changed internet providers
  • Changed your modem/router
  • Changed your WiFi password
  • Changed your WiFi extender
  • Experienced an outage or blackout

If your SolarEdge Inverter has disconnected from your WiFi network, you can easily re-establish the Wi-Fi connection from your phone without third-party help.

How to Connect to WiFi

1. Confirm WiFi Signal

On your smartphone, open settings and click on WiFi settings. You should see your home's WiFi network appear here - if you don't, there is something wrong with your WiFi network or modem and you will need to have this fixed before you can connect your SolarEdge Inverter to WiFi. Once you've confirmed you have access to your WiFi network, you can move on to the next step.

2. OPTIONAL: Restart your SolarEdge Inverter

To restart your SolarEdge inverter, turn off the AC isolator switch (if this is located in your switchboard, it will be labelled 'Main Switch Inverter Supply'.

Then, you can turn off the DC isolator switch/es.

Wait a few minutes and your SolarEdge inverter's lights will switch off. This indicates that your inverter is turned off and is ready to restart.

To restart, simply repeat the above steps in reverse order. Turn on your DC isolator switches, then turn on your AC isolator switch. It may take a few minutes for the lights on your inverter to turn back on.

After a few minutes, if you still aren't receiving any data to your mySolarEdge monitoring app, you will need to reconfigure the WiFi settings in your inverter. Continue to follow the below steps.

3. Open the mySolarEdge app on your phone
4. Open the ‘Inverter Communications’ menu

Click the 3 horizontal lines in the top left corner of the app. From this menu, click ‘Inverter Communications’

5. Scan the QR code on the inverter

The mySolarEdge app will prompt you to scan the QR code located on the side of your inverter. The QR code is usually located on the right side of the inverter, but if it is not, it should be on the left.

6. Move the switch to the ‘P’ position

The mySolarEdge app will prompt you to locate the ON/OFF/P switch. This switch will either be on the front or the side of the inverter. Move the red ON/OFF/P switch to the ‘P’ position and release within 2 seconds.

7. Connect your smartphone to the SolarEdge inverter WiFi

Once the switch is activated, your phone will search for the WiFi module built into the inverter. When your phone has located the inverter’s WiFi, a prompt will appear stating “mySolarEdge” Wants to Join WiFi Network “[insert SolarEdge Inverter network]”?

Click Join to connect.

8. Configure the SolarEdge inverter WiFi connection

The WiFi screen will appear once your app is connected to the inverter’s WiFi. Click Configure.

In the networks screen, scroll down to “Choose another network…”. Find and select your home WiFi network.

9. Enter your WiFi network password. Click Join.
10. Success

Once your inverter is connected to your network, a green tick and ‘Connected’ will appear beneath your network.
